EAA Chapter 72

Redbird Flight Simulator

EAA chapter 72 has available to its members a Redbird FMX full motion advanced FAA approved training device.  The purpose of the simulator is to help with pilot proficiency, help prospective pilots reduce time and cost to obtain ratings, support the Aerolab students in learning to fly.  To gain access, you need to complete the steps below.

Redbird Account and Pilot Key

New Redbird Account

  1. Skip to the next step, Redbird Pilot Key, if you already have a Redbird Account.  Go to the Redbird website, account.redbirdflight.com, on a computer with a USB drive.  Have a USB drive available that you can use each time you use the flight simulator.
  2. Click on the Create New Account button at the bottom of the login screen.
  3. Enter all information and click on the Register button.

Redbird Pilot Key

  1. Once logged into your Redbird Account, click on the down arrow next to Pilot Keys.  A Redbird simulator pilot key is a USB drive used to instantly log in to a Redbird flight simulator, loading a specific pilot profile, saved sessions, and curriculum licenses (such as GIFT) without needing internet access. It automates the login process and unlocks training scenarios.
  2. Enter a 4-6 digit PIN twice and click the Generate/Download Pilot Key button.
  3. The system will create an RBPK file in your downloads folder. Transfer the RBPK file to your pilot key (or any USB drive).  You may store other files on this USB drive, but Redbird recommends dedicating a single USB drive to your Redbird account.  You’ll insert the thumb drive into the USB port on the left side of the instrument panel.

Flight Circle Account

  1. Set up a Flight Circle account to schedule the simulator, log your time, and charge your credit card. Go to www.flightcircle.com.
  2. Click the Sign Up button.  Fill out your personal information and click on “I am an individual who wants to fly.”  At the next screen click on “Choose an organization in your settings.”  In the Enter search terms field, enter “EAA Chapter 72”.  Click the Add button. The admin will then approve your request.
  3. Your rate will be $45/hour, $25/hour for youth (17 and under).
