Our chapter offers an IMC/VMC Club for our members to network and share flying knowledge and experience. Each month we cover an IFR and a VFR topic. We meet the 2nd Wednesday of every month. More information can be found at: IMC/VMC Club

The topic for the September meeting will be Wake Turbulence. Recently there have been some aircraft accidents due to wake turbulence involving helicopters. Helicopter training is ongoing at the Meadow Lake Airport and there is also flight training with light sport aircraft. In this session, we'll review the recent accidents and the characteristics of Wake Turbulence that all pilots should be knowledgeable of.

The VMC Question of the Month for September is:

During flight, you notice an anomaly with the electrical system, with the ammeter and battery voltage indicating a discharge. What steps can you take to restore or prolong electrical power as you navigate to an available airport?

The IMC Question of the Month for September is:

You are flying an instrument approach to a familiar airport and runway, and the ceiling is at minimums. Nearing the runway, you recognize the river and a street that leads directly toward the runway. With these landmarks in sight, can you safely descend below minimums?

This meeting qualifies for Wings credit.

There are 3 scheduled flight periods (8am, 8:45am, 9:30am). Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your child's scheduled flight period. Go directly inside to the registration table to check in. There may be some waiting before your child's flight. Once your child's plane taxi's out, the average flight is 15 to 20 minutes. Please return to the registration desk after your child's flight to pick up their Young Eagles certificate.
