72.5 Student Group Meeting (September 26, 2026)

The Student group, ages 14-18, high school age, meet twice a month on the 1^st and 4^th Saturdays of the month from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm in the MLAA Hangar. This group is learning and studying for the FAA written exam needed to become a private pilot.

The topic for the October meeting will be flight planning. Please bring your plotter, E6B flight computers, and your Gleim texts.

Please register for this event so we will know how many kids to expect.

There are 3 scheduled flight periods (8am, 8:45am, 9:30am). Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your child's scheduled flight period. Go directly inside to the registration table to check in. There may be some waiting before your child's flight. Once your child's plane taxi's out, the average flight is 15 to 20 minutes. Please return to the registration desk after your child's flight to pick up their Young Eagles certificate.

Be sure to also check out the flight simulator and get more details on all the extra's available through the EAA Young Eagles and AeroEducate Programs.

Please DO NOT sign up your child to fly at this chapter more than once every six months. Thank you!

Pancake Breakfast with the 99’s Poker Run ♠️♥️♣️♦️ (October 17, 2026)

Join the Colorado, Pikes Peak, and Wyoming Chapters of The Ninety-Nines for the 2026 Poker Run, a fly-or-drive aviation adventure running September 1 through October 17 that raises funds for chapter activities and scholarships supporting women aviators. Participants purchase $20 “hands,” then collect sealed card envelopes at any of seven airports—Casper (KCPR), Laramie (KLAR), Fort Morgan (KFMM), Akron (KAKO), Burlington (KITR), La Junta (KLHX), and Meadow Lake (KFLY)—with extra cards available at the terminus if you don’t make every stop; anyone is welcome, pilots and drivers alike, and envelopes stay sealed until the reveal. The event wraps Saturday, October 17 at Meadow Lake Airport in Peyton, where hands must be presented at the MLAA Hangar by 10:00 a.m. and prizes are awarded at 11:00 a.m. EAA Chapter 72 will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast there from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. ($10 adults; under 12 free; teens typically half price), so fly in, drive in, or just come for breakfast and help cheer on the players. Hands can be bought online at https://www.pikespeak99s.org/2026-poker-run/ or at the terminus (KFLY) on the 17th.
