My all time favorite aircraft was a 1975 Grumman Tiger. I could lay the seatbacks flat behind me, and take the front wheel off my 10-speed and stuff it back there. This meant I did not have to depend on the kindness of strangers when stopping at small airports in the upper Midwest.

I did have some interesting experiences before getting to that point, however. Stopping at a small airport in rural Illinois, I could not find ground transportation. Finally I asked a local farmer if I could pay him to drive me into town. He suggested that if I'd take him up and fly over his place so he could find where his cattle were hiding, he'd do it for free. We did, found his cattle, and I got my free ride.
